Inventing the Future
Welcome to Victor Tango AutoDrive
ABOUT AUTODRIVE
In April of 2017, Virginia Tech, alongside seven other schools, was selected to be a
part of the GM and SAE International sponsored AutoDrive Challenge. The objective
of this competition is to plan, design, and build a fully autonomous ground vehicle in
the next three years. To participate in this competition, the team has to provide
detailed instructions, including the necessary equipment, working hours, and project
members. It is required to create an approximate budget for the costs mentioned above
and a car repair financing plan. The team will be provided a Chevy Bolt Electric in
which they will have to convert into an autonomous vehicle. The vehicle will then be
put to the test in a rigorous urban driving course.
OUR TEAM
The faculties and teams in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech compete
in the highest of technological competitions from the DARPA Grand Challenge,
DARPA Urban Challenge, to now the AutoDrive Collegiate Competition. These
interdisciplinary teams are dedicated to pushing the envelope in the autonomous
systems fields. These teams not only learn how to develop cutting edge technology,
but also learn project planning and development, effective communication and presentation
skills, and the ins and out of intellectual property.
